Adult Industry Groups You Didn’t Know Existed

The adult entertainment market is so vibrant that it affects many different social and economic groups. Without a doubt, nonprofit organizations are essential to the adult sector, including sex work, which is a subset of adult entertainment. This also includes other obscure, publicly regulated, commercially available kinds of consensual sexual entertainment. Adult Business Consulting is looking forward to sharing more about these groups.

Uniqueness of Adult Entertainment on Display

In a previous blog article, Adult Business Consulting discussed the kinds of nonprofit organizations in the adult sector that business owners could support. There are additional adult advocacy organizations, some of which you probably weren’t aware of. The whole range of charities and non-governmental organizations that support adult businesses in demonstrating their social, ethical, and legal commitment should be made available to adult business owners by using this blog post as a resource guide.

Organizations in the In the Adult Industry That You Don’t Often Hear About

There are a few less well-known organizations that support adult entertainment and sex work. These organizations offer free and affordable mental health care, and they collaborate with organizations in the adult entertainment, internet sex, LGBTQ+ rights, and other fields to speak with one voice in Washington, D.C.

Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection

Alec Helmy established the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP). Adnet Media, the company that owns XBIZ.com and XBIZ.net, was founded by Helmy. Members of the adult entertainment business, including major contributors like Aylo, GFY, and numerous other organizations, support ASACP. A nonprofit group known as ASACP promotes self-regulation and the reporting of unethical or exploitative content on adult websites. To assist parents in preventing children from watching age-restricted content, the ASACP’s Restricted to Adults (RTA) label interfaces with parental control software. Tim Henning, a seasoned businessman, is the organization’s leader.

Adult Performance Artists Guild

One of the few federally recognized labor unions that represents adult performers and sex workers working in the porn industry is the Adult Performance Artists Guild (APAG). Alana Evans, a pornstar, oversees APAG. Only individuals who have worked in the adult entertainment industry as actors or actresses can fully understand its subtleties. Because performers in this field are continually being tested by outside influences, it may be difficult for outsiders to understand the precise requirements of this profession.

Adult Industry Association

The Adult Industry Association doesn’t always function as a full-fledged trade association for those working in the adult sector. However, for members from all segments, the association mainly acts as a social and business networking platform focused on the industry. Members of the industry can complain to the Adult Industry Association’s complaint committee against studios, producers, performers, and other businesses and people for a variety of reasons. These excuses cover everything from CSAM to STDs that weren’t revealed prior to production. Although premium membership choices start at $5 per month or $50 per calendar year, association membership is free.

Sex Workers Outreach Project USA

A group dedicated to promoting human rights and putting an end to violence and stigma against the sex trade and its communities is called the Sex Workers Outreach Project USA (SWOP-USA). The goal of the SWOP-USA group is to uphold the fundamental human rights of everyone involved in the consensual sex trade, especially the right to a safe workplace free from abuse and stigma. In addition to offering sex trade workers and their communities support and education, they achieve this through working to reduce violence and stigma towards sex workers.

Pineapple Support Society

The Pineapple Support Society, a nonprofit organization that offers assistance and services to those in need of counseling, is sponsored by Adult Business Consulting. Resources including articles, chat rooms, and forums are available from Pineapple Support Society, and they can be helpful for persons with different kinds of issues. The nonprofit Pineapple Support is situated in the UK and offers comprehensive services around-the-clock. The mental health professionals in Pineapple’s therapy network have a specialization in working with those who work in the adult entertainment industry, and they are all familiar with sex workers’ rights and the industry’s pro-sexuality and pro-expression stance. Leya Tanit, a former sex worker who has participated on our Adult Site Broker Talk program, created and currently heads the company.

Free Speech Coalition

A significant portion of the internet, web retail, and pleasure products sector of the adult entertainment industry is represented by the 501(c)6 membership group and chamber of commerce known as the Free Speech Coalition. The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) is set up as a corporate coalition with members from diverse industry sectors. When it comes to state-level industry-related restrictions, FSC is a vocal supporter of speech and business in the area, offering national-level assistance and representation in Washington, D.C., and the capital cities of all 50 states. The executive director of FSC now is Alison Boden, a seasoned adult entertainment businesswoman who just won the XBIZ award for Community Figure of the Year. She was featured in a 2 part interview on Adult Site Broker Talk.

Performer Availability Screening Services

The Free Speech Coalition created the Performer Availability Screening Services (PASS), a nonprofit company. A 501(c)3 charity is PASS. PASS has been doing STI and/or other infectious disease testing in the United States and Canada since May 2021 as a stand-alone nonprofit organization, with the results of these tests being recorded to their database. PASS collaborates with businesses in the adult entertainment sector to protect the public’s health within the community that produces adult movies. PASS only keeps a binary database containing “yes” or “no” information indicating if work authorization is allowed. The work allowance determinations are made by public health professionals who have the necessary licensure based on the findings from the PASS groups and illness testing.

Woodhull Freedom Foundation

A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization called the Woodhull Freedom Foundation aims to uphold people’s First Amendment rights to sexual expression and freedom. Sexual liberation is referred to by Woodhull as a human right. Woodhull actively advocates for people who have been subjected to discrimination based on their gender, sexual orientation, or other characteristics through research, education, and court cases. Their engagement in legal battles against the FOSTA-SESTA legislation, which updated Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, has earned them widespread acclaim.
